Dundry Community Garden

Amazing opportunities for local people to come join our opening of Dundry Community Garden. Volunteers and avid gardeners wanted. Every Sunday from 1st September, 1:00pm til 3:00pm.

Whether you like planting, building garden beds, digging, and meeting local people in your area.

We also are looking for people with limited outdoor garden space who would like to grow their own food, flowers etc with a fee of £30 a year you keep what you grow, or donate seeds to our new space to be replanted.

Life-changing work in Weston

Last month volunteers Diane (Team Leader), Joanne (Literacy Specialist) and Sue (Coordinator) attended the Mayor’s Reception in Weston and received a Certificate of Recognition for the dedication which their group Read Easy North Somerset demonstrates in delivering its free, one-to-one service for adults who struggle with reading.

Cycling the Somerset 100 for Mental Health in Construction

Foundations Up Construction joined a team from Sweet Track Counselling to complete the Somerset 100 Cycle ride on the 19th May to raise awareness for their low-cost counselling services. Weston Hospicecare’s Mendip Challenge returns this June

Weston Hospicecare’s Mendip Challenge returns this June.
The Mendip Challenge 2024 is an exciting sponsored event for those looking to have fun, challenge themselves and raise money for Weston Hospicecare.
There are 4 routes to choose from – 30 miles (starting at Wells), 20 miles (starting at Draycott), and a 10 mile and 5 mile circular walk. With all routes finishing at Weston super Mare Cricket Club.

The event takes place on Sunday 2nd June, with a registration fee of £10 – £25 depending on the chosen route.

Defibrillator Project – Updates

The Donate For Defib W-s-M Project has installed 3 further defibrillators for venues in Weston super Mare over the last month. A defibrillator donated to the project by BEESWIFT Ltd, has been given to the Community Response Team in Weston, this defibrillator will also be used on the MavisBus when in operation.

An Only Fools and Horses fundraising evening is being held at the Tropicana on May 10th, to raise funds for defibrillators, tickets on sale soon.
