Weston Hospicecare’s Mendip Challenge returns this June.
The Mendip Challenge 2024 is an exciting sponsored event for those looking to have fun, challenge themselves and raise money for Weston Hospicecare.
There are 4 routes to choose from – 30 miles (starting at Wells), 20 miles (starting at Draycott), and a 10 mile and 5 mile circular walk. With all routes finishing at Weston super Mare Cricket Club.

The event takes place on Sunday 2nd June, with a registration fee of £10 – £25 depending on the chosen route.

Defibrillator Project – Updates

The Donate For Defib W-s-M Project has installed 3 further defibrillators for venues in Weston super Mare over the last month. A defibrillator donated to the project by BEESWIFT Ltd, has been given to the Community Response Team in Weston, this defibrillator will also be used on the MavisBus when in operation.

An Only Fools and Horses fundraising evening is being held at the Tropicana on May 10th, to raise funds for defibrillators, tickets on sale soon.

Weston Ukelele Players

In 2023 the Weston Ukulele Players raised £9,208.92 which they donated to the Children’s Hospice South West in Wraxall. They played songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s at numerous care homes, pubs, clubs, holiday venues, and societies throughout North Somerset. Thank you to everyone who booked them to play at an event last year. After a brief break over Christmas they are back out playing and collecting more donations for the Hospice.

Defibrillator Project

A Project has launched to enable the installation of public access defibrillators within Weston-super-Mare. The aim of this is to fundraise for defibrillators to provide the life-saving resource to be accessible in the event of a cardiac arrest. The project is proudly working in partnership with Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).
