Weston-super-Mare Archaeological and Natural History Society

WANHS would like to invite you to their monthly talk on Tuesday 14th May entitled: “Elizabethan Houses and the Transformation of England” by Dr Jonathan Foyle.

This most interesting presentation will be held at FACES, 4 – 6 Station Rd, Weston-Super-Mare BS23 1XB. Doors will open at 7:00pm and the talk will begin at 7:30pm. Entry fees are £1.00 for members and £3.00 for non-members.

Settlement Orders and the life of the poor

At Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, Baytree Road, Weston on 8th May, 2:30pm. Weston-s-Mare and District Family History Society present a talk about the 1662 Settlement Act and the relief of the poor, after there will be a Family History and DNA question and answer session. Members £1.50, Guests £2.00 which includes refreshments.
We also hold a free Family History help and advice session at the Weston Library on the first Saturday of the Month, 2:00pm – 3:30pm.

Monday-Sing-A-Long

Monday-Sing-A-Long is for anyone who loves songs from 40’s through to the 70’s. We meet alternate Monday Afternoons from 2:00pm until 3:45pm in St Jude’s Hall in St Peter’s Church, Milton. A donation of £2 is welcome but not essential. Anyone who enjoys a relaxed afternoon singing is welcome, a good voice is NOT required but a sense of humour is!

The Friends Of The Playhouse May Events

The Friends Of The Playhouse hold their popular Saturday Coffee Mornings 10:00am to 11:30am at the High Street Theatre. Hot Drinks and Biscuits are on sale The Coffee Mornings are open to members and non members 

Saturday 4th May: The monthly raffle to win 2 tickets to a show of your choice at the Playhouse (to be taken within 3 months) plus other lovely prizes)/

Saturday 18th May: There is the monthly quiz “Do You Know Your Theatre”. It is £1 per person to enter.

A warm welcome at Emmanuel Church

On Saturday 4th May, locals are invited to join together for a chat and a brew at Emmanuel Church, which is located on Oxford Street.
From 10:30am until around 12:00pm, there will be a table top sale of bric a brac, books and tasty cakes.
The event is free and is open to everyone, whether you attend the church regularly or not. Anything brought or any donations made will be very welcome.
